Beyond Caine's Arcade: Caine Monroy & Nivan Mullick at TEDxYouth@SantaMonica 2010

I've known about Caine Monroy's story since he came into the public consciousness in 2009. I am pleased to see that he made it to TED Talks in 2010. Caine's story is the ultimate in DIY. Caine created with the help of his father, a homemade arcade which eventually attracted customers. His project became a phenomenon and how customers have donated funds to prepare Caine for a future college education in engineering.

A documentary has been made and now a new initiative called Imagination Foundation, which will assist kids to assist other children like Caine.

Beyond Caine's Arcade: Caine Monroy & Nivan Mullick at TEDxYouth@SantaMonica - 2010

All Caine Monroy wanted was for some people to come and play in his homemade arcade. What he got has become so much more. Via a short film posted on the internet just a few short months ago, Caine Monroy has become an internet sensation. Nirvan Mullick is an award-winning filmmaker and digital strategist, whose short film CAINE'S ARCADE has taken the internet by storm and launched a worldwide movement. The story of Caine and Nirvan is a wonderful example of human connection and what amazing things can happen when people join together to help someone fulfill a dream.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
