Great Britian's New National Health Service uses scare tactics to warn young teens against pregnancy

Earlier this year a staged video was released by Great Britain's New National Health service in attempts to teach young people a lesson in the consequences of reckless sex. The video showed a teenage girl giving birth on the ground, surrounded by panicked, yelling teens. In the video the actress is screaming on the ground and her friend is delivering the child.

The words "Not what you expected?" appears at the end, followed by: "Being a teen parent might not be, either." The video is part of a campaign by the Leicester Teenage Pregnancy and Parenthood Partnership. The video was removed after complaints from the public, but was later reposted by YouTube users.

The video can be seen here or here. Fair warning the video is graphic..but no more graphic than the photo above.

I do think that it is important for teens to be educated about the consequences of unsafe sex, however, I think this is inappropriate. I do not think it is inappropriate because there is blood and the head of a child shown but because the service announcement turns the consequences of unsafe sex into a circus.

I should also add that the video's message seems to be aimed at women not men. Is it just the responsibility of the woman to prevent pregnancy?

Not only is this service announcement video sexist it uses scare tactics as if that is an appropriate and effective way to educate teens.
