amniotic

Sisters Bianca Leilani "Coco" and Sierra Rose "Rosie" Casady formed CocoRosie in 2003. Sierra plays the guitar, piano and harp, and contributes vocals. Bianca sings and manipulates various children's toys, electronic & percussion instruments and other noisemakers.

Sierra and Bianca Casady are part Native American. Sierra was born in Iowa, and Bianca was born in Hawaii. Their mother nicknamed them Rosie and Coco. At age 14, Sierra was kicked out of her mother's house, and sent to boarding school by her father and it was at this time that the sisters lost touch.

In 2000, at age 20, Sierra moved into an apartment in Paris to pursue a career as an opera singer. Bianca pursued visual arts and writing.

In 2003 the two reunited and decided to begin working on music together.

I consider this pair one of the most unique forces in music today. They amaze me with their use of voice, visual art and instruments. I consider them one of my favorite musical acts.

By Your Side - CocoRosie

By Your Side is an example of the social political awareness that seeps through their music. Here the two satirically convey that all they want to do with their is strive for perfection and complete devotion to another. "I'll wear your black eyes, bake you apple pies."

Beautiful Boyz - CocoRosie

CocoRosie present themselves in a very androgynous tones and have expressed how they embrace the queer community. In this song they speak to the "beautiful boyz" that are often discriminated against.
